Eddy Merckx and Capri-Sun raise €12,920.95 for War Child

The special Capri-Sun edition of the Eddy Merckx Pévèle racing bike has raised a total of €12,920.95 for War Child, the international organization that supports children growing up in war situations.

On May 16, Eddy Merckx Bikes and Capri-Sun presented a striking limited edition of the Pévèle. The bike featured a fresh and colorful Capri-Sun design, as a nod to the Capri Sonne–Campagnolo–Merckx cycling team that rode Eddy Merckx bikes in the early 1980s. The team’s greatest success was Peter Winnen’s stage victory in the 1982 Tour de France.

Proceeds go to children affected by war

For every Capri-Sun Pévèle sold, the full profit was donated to War Child. The campaign ultimately raised €12,920.95. With this amount, War Child can support children in conflict zones through education, protection and psychosocial care. The organization is active in regions such as Ukraine, the Middle East and Western Europe, where thousands of children still face the consequences of war every day.

Reviving cycling history

The decision to collaborate with Capri-Sun once again was no coincidence, explains Pieter Vanheeswijck, communications manager at Eddy Merckx Bikes: “The historical link with the cycling team from the 1980s made it possible to combine nostalgia with social engagement. With the Capri-Sun Pévèle, we wanted to revive a piece of cycling history together, while at the same time making a difference for children growing up in difficult circumstances today.”

Eddy Merckx Bikes and Capri-Sun thank everyone who purchased a bike or helped spread the campaign. Thanks to this support, War Child can continue its vital work and reach even more children.
