More than just a funky ride: Capri-Sun and Eddy Merckx Bikes Join Forces for a Good Cause
With Capri-Sun, we’re breathing new life into a nostalgic collaboration that dates back to the early 1980s. Cycling enthusiasts will remember the Capri-Sonne team that rode Eddy Merckx bikes in 1982. Now we’re teaming up again, this time for a special charity initiative: the Capri-Sun Pévèle. The proceeds from this campaign will go to the international NGO War Child, which supports children affected by war. The bikes can be ordered starting May 16, not coincidentally on the International Day of Living Together in Peace.
War Child is an international organization that supports children affected by war through education, protection, and psychological care in regions such as Ukraine, the Middle East, and Western Europe.

Two in one
The Capri-Sun x Eddy Merckx Pévèle C is a versatile all-road bike, built to perform on both tarmac and gravel. It features advanced technology, a carbon frame, Shimano 105 Di2 electronic shifting, and carbon wheels. Its geometry allows riders to switch terrains with ease. With clearance for tires up to 38 mm, the bike is as flexible as it is stylish. Starting May 16, it will also be available in the online bike configurator on the Eddy Merckx website so cyclists can tailor it to their preferences.

Reviving a vintage wordmark
One notable feature of this bike is the return of the classic Eddy Merckx Bikes wordmark on the downtube—a replica of the logo used back in the team's heyday. It’s a nod to the rich heritage and a way to link it to today’s modern bikes.
A healthy dose of cycling fun
Jochim Aerts, CEO of Belgian Cycling Factory: “At Belgian Cycling Factory, our mission is to improve people's lives through cycling. This partnership does exactly that. Especially in times like these, such a collaboration is incredibly valuable. It brings together Eddy Merckx’s heritage, a dose of cycling fun, and a shared commitment to War Child.”
Yvonne Baumgartner, Global Brand Director at Capri-Sun, adds: “Capri-Sun stands for fun and active connection, and this partnership is more than just a tribute to our shared history with Eddy Merckx. It’s an opportunity to unite for a purpose beyond sport: to help children in conflict zones find carefree moments.”

Made in Belgium
The limited-edition bike is made in Beringen, Belgium and features a striking Capri-Sun design inspired by the brand’s iconic colors. Priced at €5,575, the bike will be available for order from May 16 until the end of September via the official Eddy Merckx website. Complementing the bike, Le Coffee Ride will release a new Capri-Sun cycling jersey that replicates the 1980s Capri-Sonne team kits—updated for today’s riders.

Complete your kit with the matching jersey
To fully complete your Capri-Sun look, our friends at Le Coffee Ride designed a top-quality aero jersey. This shirt is a reissue of the cycling jersey worn by the team in 1982. Many professional teams in the peloton use the lightweight perforated '4-way stretch' material. This provides excellent breathability while remaining light and comfortable.
The Warmth of a Hopeful Sunbeam: The Unforgettable Year of Capri Sonne-Merckx
On July 21, 1982, Belgium’s National Day, the modest Capri Sonne – Campagnolo – Merckx team experiences its crowning moment. Wearing the iconic blue and red kit, Peter Winnen breaks away on the Col de Joux Plane and dives downhill to Morzine, gifting his team a legendary Tour de France stage victory. One year later, the team disappears from the peloton, but the fruity aftertaste of that moment still lingers today.
