La semana pasada, Eddy Merckx Bikes presentó la nueva 525R. Como es habitual, también colaboramos con varios periodistas independientes, que prueban la bicicleta durante un tiempo y publican una valoración objetiva. Las primeras reseñas ya son muy elogiosas. "The best aero road bike I've ever ridden" y "un auténtico placer de conducir" son solo algunos de los comentarios recibidos.
BikeRadar salió a rodar con una 525R en color blanco y morado. Nos alegró especialmente leer la conclusión del periodista Warren Rossiter: "The Merckx 525R is the best aero road bike I've ever ridden, simply because it's not as uncompromising as a typical aero road bike of recent vintage." Y continúa: "In fact, it almost defies categorisation. If this was pitched to me as an endurance bike, I'd accept it as that, given its still-racy geometry is offset by the accommodating ride. If it was pitched as a pure-bred race bike, I'd be cool with that too – it's stiff, responsive, fast handling, and above all very fast and efficient-feeling."

No solo ligera y espectacular
Como marca belga, por supuesto también contamos con los medios especializados de nuestro país. Grinta probó una 525R azul intenso en las carreteras belgas y el probador también quedó impresionado: «La 525R no solo es ligera y visualmente espectacular, gracias al acabado parcialmente transparente que deja ver los detalles del carbono y a su elegante pintura azul, sino que además es muy rápida. Pero, sobre todo, esta nueva Merckx resultó ser un auténtico placer de conducir. Su rigidez no resta comodidad ni disfrute sobre la bicicleta. Y sí, la nueva geometría requiere un pequeño periodo de adaptación, aunque fue mucho más rápido de lo que me había atrevido a esperar.»
Como tercera prueba, pusimos una 525R verde y blanca a disposición del equipo de Escape Collective. "The 525R isn't the lightest or most aerodynamic road bike, but the progressive geometry and level of adjustability it offers makes it the bike I've chosen to race this spring," destaca el periodista Ronan Mc Laughlin. "I've spent the last three months testing it, the progressive geometry, and that new wind tunnel-optimised position in both training and racing, both at the domestic level and in an international stage race. Spoiler alert: I like it a lot! The 525R has even relegated other much-higher-profile bikes to gathering dust on the garage wall."
